Holy Sleep Batman

The past two nights Baby Boy slept for 8 hours! This morning I even had to wake him up! I wish I could ask him what the trick was to get him to sleep that long. Both nights I had taken him to visit new friends in town; so I wonder if he was over tired from that? Or was it that our genius night time routine has helped him stay asleep? All I know right now is that I am rested, thankful for the extra sleep and hope it continues!

Two Month Check-up

This morning Eric had his 2 month check-up visit which included three sets of shots. Baby Boy has grown! He is 24 inches long and weighs 12 lbs 14 ounces; putting him into the 95th percentile. I was dreading the shots, but Eric did much better than I thought! He screamed and got completely red when he was stuck, but then calmed down fairly quickly afterwards. I am so proud of our brave boy! Hopefully he will continue to do well through the rest of the day. Here's a photo I took on the way to the doctor.

No Rest, All Play

This week Eric has been so into his activity mat and just playing with toys in general. Even hunger and poopy diapers don't seem to bother him when he's playing! He loves the safari animals - he bats, coos and smiles at them. He is completely engaged! It has been really fun to watch him be so alert and active. I am also able to get a few things done while he plays; which is an added bonus. Monday he played so much that he slept for 7 hours at night!

Babysitters & First Father's Day!

This past weekend our little family of  three traveled up to DC for our friend Natalie's wedding. While we are at the wedding, Aunt Suzanne and Uncle Kevin babysat Baby Boy. Eric had a blast! They went for walks and tended to Baby Houdini's every need. He was snoozing when we came back from the wedding. It was weird and wonderful to have ourfirst  night out as parents. We definitely missed our sweet boy, but I know he was in good hands! Suzanne and Kevin were also gracious hosts.

We celebrated Christian's first Father's Day at Farfar and Farmor's house. Eric gave his dad some daddy and me books and a golf shirt. We had a great visit up to DC! PS: Eric slept the whole way on both legs of the trip!

The parents all dressed up for our first night out.

Eric's Newborn Photo Shoot

Here are the photos from Eric's newborn photo shoot.  These were taken when Eric was two weeks old.  The photos are by Amy Benoit (www.amybenoit.com).  You can see how much Eric has changed from week two to now (week 6)!

Here's a link to most of the photos and below are a few of the shots:

Tummy Time & Ceiling Fans

Now that Eric really likes the activity mat, my mom suggested I try some tummy time with Eric. I put him face down on the mat today. I think he was a bit stunned. For about a minute, he lifted his head slightly, but then he got too frustrated. We'll try again each day.

Also today, Eric discovered his love for ceiling fans. I put him on my bed and he became mesmerized by the rotation. I hope this love affair continues!

Cousin Megan and Uncle Freddie Visit!

This past week we were lucky enough to have two visitors - cousin Megan and Uncle Freddie! Eric was thrilled to see them both. I really enjoyed seeing both of them interact, take care of, and love on Baby Eric.
Megan hung out with for our daily routines and Freddie got a lot of quality play time in with Eric on the activity mat. The giraffe was of particular interest.

Table for Three

Monday night we took Eric out to eat for his first restaurant experience. Our friends Natalie and Liz had given us a gift certificate to Brixx - a kid friendly restaurant. The weather was nice, so we sat outside and I rocked Baby Boy in the stroller. He was awake in the beginning and content - then he fell asleep. He did great! And we were able to eat and have a beer. The waiter told us how cute Eric was and also thought he looked 6 months old! Um no, he's only 5 weeks :).

Here's a photo of Eric enjoying his pizza:

Hopefully I am not jinxing myself, but for documentation purposes...for the last two weeks we have started a night time routine; and Eric has slept at least 5 hours in a row every night! Sometimes even 6 hours. I feel so rested - thank you Baby Boy!
