Merry Christmases

Christian had 6 days off from work, so we headed to Cville for Christmas break. Aunt Nancy came in to visit as well.  Since the Fars were in Sweden, eric had a few rounds of opening presents (he is the prince after all). First he received trains, a plane and a boat from the Fars, Uncle Hans and Uncle Freddie. After a nap, he opened his presents from MJ and Poppi - a workbench, chair and slide. Then on Saturday Aunt SueSue and Uncle Kevin came down and Eric opened his third round of presents. We had a great time visiting, relaxing, eating and playing with the new toys!

Pepparkakor

On Tuesday, we had our friends Maureen and Eva over to make pepparkakor or ginger bread cookies in English. 

Ears

Eric is currently fascinated with ears -- his ears, my ears, your ears...all ears! He sticks his fingers in his ears and other people's ears...and his fingers are always covered in salvia (#wetwillies). This week at school, he went up to a kindergartener and Eric stuck his fingers in the older kid's ears. Brave and curious kid! 

One, Two...Two

On Sunday, Eric and MJ did a lot of counting. Eric learned the number two and loved saying it...soon all of the numbers became "two"!  Here are some photos of Eric counting to two.

Spoonfuls

In the past week, Eric has been using a spoon or fork for most every meal. I am quite impressed with how quickly he has caught on to the use of utensils (and for the most part he doesn't throw the bowl on the floor). Quite a dexterous dude!

 

MJ's 60th!

Today we celebrate MJ's 60th birthday!! Aunt SueSue, Uncle Kevin, Aunt Trish, Jackie and Andrew all came to Cville.  We rented and decorated a "party" van and drove up to a vineyard for wine and lunch. Eric was such a great little boy, especially since he had no nap...I think the cupcakes helped.  Here are some photos of the celebration. Happy birthday and we love you, MJ!

Dad's Birthday & a "New" Babysitter

Last week, Christian turned the big 3-0! Friday night, we planned to go out and celebrate at a local brewery with friends. So we needed to get a babysitter for the little Swedican. I asked around at his daycare and fortunately, Eric's classroom teacher, Miss Robin was able to watch Eric. When she first came over, Eric was a bit confused as to why she was at our house and not at school...but within minutes he warmed up and was thrilled she was there! When we left for the evening, he was too busy playing with Robin for hugs goodbye. When we said "bye bye" he thought Robin had to leave and was upset she was leaving and not his parents...we were happy with our choice of sitter!

A Very Happy Thanksgiving!

Last week, we were really blessed to have all of our visitors join us for Thanksgiving!  Aunt SueSue, Uncle Kevin, Farmar and Farfar all journey down from NOVA; and MJ & Poppi came in from Charlottesville.  We had a great time catching up, cooking, eating, eating some more and of course watching our little Swedican interact with everyone!  We also had an early birthday celebration for Christian with everyone.
